What started as Kansas City’s most talked about dining experience — authentic Mexican cuisine served from custom Airstream trailer — Port Fonda has taken that grassroots success and turned it into one of Kansas Cities most compelling restaurants. A home away from home for people that value quality, local ingredients, and creative expressions of rustic Mexican cuisine.  Open seven days a week, Port Fonda also boasts an owner recently chosen as Kansas City’s Best Chef by The Pitch Magazine.

THE CHEF
Over the course of his twenty year long career as a chef, Patrick Ryan has always focused on simple, ingredient-driven food influenced by the flavors of rustic, Mexican cantina cooking. Instrumental in the farm-dinners of Green Dirt Farms, Patrick brings that focus on authentic ingredients to Port Fonda where he was chosen as Kansas City’s best chef by Pitch Magazine, nominated for Food & Wine People's Best New Chef Midwest 2013 and 2014 and most recently nominated for James Beard Awards' Best New Chef-Midwest 2015.

El Comedor (Spanish for “the dining room”) takes you back to the roots of where Port
Fonda began where the concept dinner was made popular by chef/owner Patrick Ryan in the days of the insanely popular Port Fonda airstream food truck.
Guests are encouraged to make their own tacos with the pork and condiments or eat
as they please. The duroc pork shoulder from arrowhead specialty meats is dry-brined
overnight, then slow roasted for 6-8 hours with a brown sugar/sea salt/chile rub.

weddings... any event really! We offer our killer tacos in the perfect do-it-yourself package with all the fixings fully prepared and packaged separately in labeled containers, so you know exactly what you’re getting. Enjoy Port Fonda’s tacos any time, anywhere.
